▪ Although thought of as standard art, portraits propose a rather unique challenge to the artist. For if they merely duplicate a persona what is the ultimate purpose, but needless vanity and pride. And if they instead characterize the sitter, then what subjective alchemy is utilized by the painter to be remain truthful in what she/he does.
